You ask ...Tom, I find reading this way fascinating. You ask why I find the most interesting observations to be the ones which "get behind" the text. I find these observations interesting for the same reason people enjoy doing simple science experiments that have been done thousands of times. It is more interesting, and more fun, to rediscover and verify something personally than to just take it on faith that what someone else says is true.Erikahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16846371347200009801noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5818452314475850649.post-91232296752305516942010-02-20T15:37:45.903-08:002010-02-20T15:37:45.903-08:00Why are the most interesting observations for you ...Why are the most interesting observations for you the ones which "get behind" the text? Scholars and laypeople have known about these observations for generations; I am just confused why you find them so interesting. It's almost like you're surprised that the texts are, like all historical documents, products of history.

I just think reading like that must be really boring. I mean, you still have 10 months to go!Tom Bennetthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10262757246725216175noreply@blogger.com
